To the Amelia Team,

I am an epidemiologist with a public service agency in Alberta, Canada, and I have been trying to use Amelia to help with some missing data problems. As per the instructions on the Amelia II website (http://gking.harvard.edu/amelia), I’ve installed both R and the AmeliaView GUI on a Windows XP Virtual Machine (which is on a Mac). However, when I try to launch AmeliaView from my Windows desktop, no GUI opens. A shell window pops up momentarily, but that’s it.

I’ve also tried invoking AmeliaView from the R command line. However in this case, R just “spits-out” the function code. I fully acknowledge that I’m likely making a rookie mistake, but is there something I’ve forgotten to do, or that I’ve done wrong?

Sorry for the naïveté of my email, but any help or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated! (I’d much prefer to use a GUI than to “futz” with R code.)

All the best,

David
