Hi, all. I am a new faculty member at Harvard and I am currently working with
Adam Berinsky at MIT on a project that could use some RA help. Below is a
description of the project. If this is something you might be interested in,
please email me at Eschickler(a)latte.harvard.edu.
Thanks,
Eric Schickler
Description:
We seek research assistants to aid in an ambitious study of American public
opinion concerning domestic and foreign policy issues during the 1930s and
1940s. While survey organizations conducted many public opinion polls in
this critical era of American history, scholars have so far failed to
analyze this wealth of information in part because of difficulties with the
data. As part of this larger project, research assistants will help render
the data usable by transferring and recoding it from archaic formats.
Additional duties will include collecting and compiling information
concerning the characteristics of the U.S. public at this time.
The data analysis for this project will be conducted using Stata.
Experience using Stata is desirable, but not necessary. However,
familiarity with other statistical packages and data management programs is
necessary. Side benefits of the project include seeing responses to 1930s
survey questions such as, "Do you think the Republican Party is dead?"
"Would you vote for a woman for President if she was qualified in every
other respect?" and "Does your family own an electric toaster?"

welcome back to town, everyone. (and just when you thought this class was
over...)
If anyone hasn't talked with me about, or made progress in, making their
class paper into an article, and is still interested, please feel free to
stop by.
