Just a thought --

It is very helpful if emails to the list have an appropriate subject heading.  Sometimes we hit “reply” on an existing email, but we are addressing a new subject.  In that case, changing the subject line makes the email more useful in the future.  Even in my own current email box, it makes it easier to search for an email on a particular topic (without having to open it), but as I look at the archives from past years, I realize how much more important it is for the long term.
