The publisher has kindly allowed us place PDFs of the book online but it is necessary to buy or rent a copy of the book.  Its kind of an honor system thing.

I know we've thrown a lot of information at you in the first couple of days but the two most important documents that you must read are:
The syllabus: http://gking.harvard.edu/gking/g2001syl/g2001syl.pdf
The Technology Handout: http://isites.harvard.edu/fs/docs/icb.topic839892.files/technologyHandout.pdf

I noticed the book text seems to be coming up for free -- is this a mistake, or something that needs to be fixed?  I only bring this up before section in case it's something you weren't aware of.

Hi all --

Sorry for the confusion.  NB refers to the text annotation site we are using to collaboratively annotate the readings.  If you go to the Readings link on the Course Website, there is a link to the NB Annotation Tool there.  This tool has all of the readings on it and allows you to comment and ask questions about the readings as you go, which is great because we can use this tool to learn from each other.

In order to sign into NB, you need to be invited to our Gov 2001 NB website.  If you have not been invited to the NB Annotation Tool, please e-mail Brandon (bstewart@fas.harvard.edu) or me (roberts8@fas.harvard.edu) and let us know so we can invite you.

I will go over NB and the video annotation tool in more detail tonight in section.  Thank you all for your patience with these new tools!  They will be great once we know how to use them, but do involve some start-up costs.

Best,
Molly

I'm going to admit that I don't know what "NB" refers to, and chances are there are one or two people as clueless as me, so here is a link: http://gking.harvard.edu/gking/files/paperspub.pdf

Hi James,

It is under the Files section in NB and is named "KingPublicationPublication.pdf".

Is the "Publication, publication, publication" article up on the course site? Doesn't seem to be among the PDFs listed.

Thanks,
James

Newcomers to R might appreciate the opportunity to hear about R from someone other than Molly and myself.  It looks IQSS will be giving a series of workshops this semester that you can go to.
