at the top of the fig when it says [tbhp] etc, add !!  so if you want it at the top, you can do [t!!!!!!!!bhp] for example. that often helps.

Hi class,

Does anyone know how to force figures in Latex into the place in your document that you think they ought to be?  They seem to have a mind of their own.  We’ve been able to move them around a little in our paper, and we’ve gotten somewhere better than the default, but there must be a way to manipulate them more.  Is it possible to get a few of the figures to show up side by side?  Does anyone know of a good reference on this topic?

Thanks!

Rachel
