Anyone interested in doing research in Brazil? This group will pay your
way there and probably a modest stipend as well, in return for some help
on ecological inference. If you're interested in being in Brazil perhaps
to do some field work this might be a good opportunity. If you are, pls
feel free to contact her directly.
she says you don't need to speak Portugese, tho that couldn't hurt.

Subject: electoral data on Brazil
Dear Professor King,
I hope you remember that I talked to you a couple of weeks
ago about the possibility of having your PhD students or
former students visiting us and/or working with electoral
data about Brazil. As I promised, I am enclosing the
information about the data sets we have and an exercise we
have made to use your estimation model to make cross
tabulations of electoral and socioeconomic data. As you will
see in the attached document, the Brazilian method of
voters registration allows us to have socioeconomic and
electoral data on very small intra-city units with great
confidence.
I will be at your disposition to answer any additional
question about the document. If necessary I could do it
personally, since I will to be in Cambridge until next
Monday. We will prepare a codebook in English to send the
data basis on the last election to you later on.
Best regards, Argelina Figueiredo
