In a pinch, another way to install a source package on a Mac when a
binary doesn't exist is through the Terminal.
1) Download Xcode (for free) from the apple developers website, so you
have the bash command "make"
http://developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/
2) Download to your desktop the windows package (ends in .tar.gz)
3) Open up terminal and type (assuming your computer is an Intel-based
mac)
R --arch=i386 CMD INSTALL /Users/<computer-name>/Desktop/foo_1.0.tar.gz
Obviously, you should replace the computer name and the package name.
Cheers,

I believe you can. its just that our server
isn't set up to install
on a mac.
doing it directly from CRAN should work. it should also work to do
install.packages("Amelia",repos="http://
gking.harvard.edu",type="source")
which skips the compiled version.

Ashley,
You should be able to install it by just typing
install.packages("Amelia")
