try to be more specific, ie. isolate the exact line of code that triggers
the memory problem and then think about why this may happen (large data, too
many covariates, etc.). Then scale down the problem on the dimension that
you think creates the problem (eg. by subsetting the data) and run it again.
do this iteratively until you figured out the exact source of the problem so
we can think about solutions. you can also try to run the gc() command to
reallocate memory before running this command.

Yeah, I've tried those things, and most of the other things I've tried were
the result of googling. I appreciate the help.
Thanks,

try googling - there seem to be some rather old threads - or try the
discussion list for R-mac (bit tight for our timescales obviously) - silly
question, I know, but you have tried restarting - or cutting down your data
set?

I am using MacOS and I have been getting malloc errors while trying
various tasks. I've been working for about three hours just to solve
these problems, but it seems as though there isn't much else I can
do. I tried opening R with various startup commands from Terminal--
I've tried various values for the startup parameters with no success.
I'm not really sure where to go from here. Does anybody have any
suggestions?
