Hi all --
The lecture questions for the second lecture are up on the main page of the
Course Website, and are titled "Lecture 2 Quiz". By Sunday at 8AM, you
should watch the last 10 minutes of Lecture 1 and Lecture 2 online with the
video annotation tool, and answer these short questions. To access the
video annotation tool, go to "Lecture Video Annotation" on the course
website. The last 10 minutes of Lecture 1 are the last 10 minutes of the
video "Spring 2010 Lecture 01-2" (start at minute 38:00). For Lecture 2,
the two videos you should watch are "Spring 2010 Lecture 02-1" and "Spring
2010 Lecture 02-2".
The slides that go with the lectures are under "Lecture Notes" and are
called "the basics" and "Theories of Inference". (Download both sets
of
slides "to print".) The slides for the last 10 minutes of Lecture 1 start
with "The Birthday Problem" slide (pg 30) in "the basics". Then
Lecture 2
starts with "What is a Probability Density?" slide (pg 33) in "the
basics"
and continues in the "Theories of Inference" slides.
As a reminder, the reading for this week is UPM Chapters 1-3. If you have
time, you should also read "Publication, Publication", but the most
important is the reading in UPM.
The problem set has been posted on the course website. It is due Wednesday,
February 2nd at 7PM.
Last, I have office hours tomorrow from 10AM-12PM in the HMDC Computer Lab
in the basement of CGIS Knafel.
Hope you all are enjoying the snow!
Best,
Molly
