Does anyone know how to easily transfer a file from eviews into R,
STATA, or SAS? StatTransfer doesn't seem to be very helpful and I have
not found a machine with eviews on it (The web indicates that the
computers at the Science Center do not have eviews).
Thanks!

all,
I wrote the following function for Q1(a), and got the obviously wrong answer.
any idea as to what I did wrong?

probability of >=5 people being in the same committee: 0

The probability that the democrat will win depends on the value of ADAACA
variable. So, you need to plot the probability against ADDACA.

My guess is that 1 is the democratic incumbent, 0 is no incumbent, and -1
is republican incumbent.

you can set that variable to its mean, for example.

you want the interaction term in addition to the other terms.

PRESINC, I think.

Hey folks,
Has anyone tried to install the package "car" to calculate robust standard
errors? See email below about a correction to the code. Even after
making this correction, I get the following message when I try to install
it in R:
ERROR: cannot write to or create directory '/usr/lib/R/library'
Delete downloaded files (y/N)?
Please let me know if you experienced the same and/or figured out what the
problem is.
Thanks,
Nirmala

Sorry. There was a type in my e-mail:
setenv R_LIBS ~/.R/library
without "="

Hello,
I have a lot of NAs in my dataset. Whenever these NAs get involved in
calculations, the answer becomes NA, too. How do I deal with them in R?
I ran logistic regression in STATA and it seems to have some kind of an
algorithm to deal with them - taking them out. I don't think R takes
them out automatically like STATA...

Dear all,
I was wondering, are there rules for commenting programs? Does
someone know of a good example of a well-documented program that
could be distributed to the list? For example, what information
is supposed to go at the head of the program? Also, for the
purposes of this assignment, should we include all of our R code
in one long file or break up the functions into little files?
Thanks,
Olivia
Dear all,
Does anyone know how to set the number of digits in write.table
output? I have used options(digits = 3) and then write.table()
and get something like 15+ digits in the output file.
Thanks,
Olivia.
