Hi class,
I hope I'm not too late on this one, but I don't know many people in the
class and I definitely don't have a co-author yet. In the spirit of
interactivity, it might make sense to put our preferred topics into a
spreadsheet and sort ourselves into partners that way. Here's a link to a
google spreadsheet I put together: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?hl=en
<https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?hl=en&hl=en&key=tID3Aw_l3_ui_7Hpj6Xxpww
&authkey=CJ2JhtYP#gid=0>
&hl=en&key=tID3Aw_l3_ui_7Hpj6Xxpww&authkey=CJ2JhtYP#gid=0 . If people write
down their topics of interest and contact info, it might help us pair up.
If somebody wants to make this spreadsheet better or input any other
relevant columns, go ahead.
Best,
Rachel

Hi,
I am working on the HW and I am unclear about 2.1. What do you mean by sigma-squared ancillary parameter? Is this the variance or the intercept? Also, should we be generating data for this probem?
Mabel

Hi everyone --
We noticed a few of you have not filled out the lecture quiz on the course website. Although it is past the 8AM deadline, we still are interested in understanding the points in the lecture you were confused about. If you haven't filled out the lecture quiz, please do so as soon as possible!
Best,
Molly

Hi Brandon and Molly,
I was wondering if the second part of Wednesdays section was recorded? If so, where can I find the video?
Thanks,
Mabel

Hi Folks,
Based on some of the feedback we've gotten on the reading quizzes we are
going to have another extra R review session Tuesday night from 7PM-8:30PM
(place TBD). I will just be going (very slowly) over the code we've already
been through. If there are any special requests (concepts you don't
understand, things you want to try etc.) send me an email by tomorrow night
and I will try to put together some code addressing that topic. Be sure to
come armed with questions!
Brandon

Gov 2001,
For Monday we are moving the course to a new room: CGIS-South S-020 Case
Study Room (across the street and downstairs)
*
*
*The move is not permanent yet, we are just trying it out. Don't forget to
come to the right room though!*

For Question 2.1, do we need to make our OLS functions robust to missing
data in the inputs? Or can we just assume that the dependent variable
vector and the explanatory variable matrix will be complete?
Thanks,
Colin

Hello,
I think it's cool that NB allows us to communicate with our classmates about
the readings, but I also like how I can make notes to myself as I read.
Would it be possible to put the lecture notes up on NB so we could annotate
those as well? I'm thinking for personal use, but it's also possible that
someone may have a question for the class (e.g. about a formula) that they
could make a note of.
At the very least, does anyone have any software suggestions for managing
and commenting on PDF's (short of buying Acrobat)?
Thanks,
Steven

For problem 1.3, how should we deal with aces? Can we just assume that aces
are either high or low (rather than allowing both an A-2-3-4-5 straight and
a 10-J-Q-K-A straight)?
