I got this error message as well when I was running it on an old version of R.
It worked once I ran it on the current version...
I was working all local--not sure what's on the servers at the moment, but
you'd
think it would be updated.

Weird update: I can get it to run locally in the RGui, but I can't get it to
run in Emacs on the server. I tried setting others=mode also (thanks
Laurence), but to no avail. I can get rid of the error on the server if I
set numeric=mean and ordered=median (or vice versa), but I can't set ordered
and numeric equal to median as the question indicates.
