Gary,
I am looking for a grad student or recent PhD who would like to earn
some money by advising me on methods and research design issues. ?I am
working on a book on congressional oversight of national security
policy. ?The data include all public and executive session hearings of
the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees from
1947-2008 and are coded for type of oversight. ?Very little scholarly
work on oversight ?generally has been done (I now know why) and only
one study tackles oversight of US use of military force, so the book
could be important if I get it right.
I believe that I have a number of methodological issues to address,
many of which are beyond my capabilities. ?I also need advice on
graphic presentation.
In short, I need someone to tutor me and then to respond to my
questions as I begin to work through various issues. ?I am thinking
that 10 hours a week would be necessary initially and fewer
thereafter, depending upon how apt (or inept) I prove to be. ?I don't
think face-to-face contact is necessary, although I might come to
Boston once or twice. ?I have sufficient funds to pay generously for
the right person.
I spoke with your assistant this morning, who suggested that I get in
touch with you directly. ?I hope that you can help me out or point me
in the direction of someone who can.
All the best,
Linda
