That procedure seems unnecessarily complicated and error-prone. You
should be able to just run
install.packages("Amelia")
at the R prompt.

New subject: Help with installation
Sorry again, my problems seemed resolved, but even though now I can see
Amelia View screen, it does not seem to be working properly (I cannot plot
the histogram or the missingness map) and I get the following error in R:
update.packages(ask=FALSE, checkBuilt=TRUE)
install.packages("Amelia")

Hi Ista,
Just found why I was not able to update the packages or install Amelia from
R.
In my case there was a problem with the proxy and needed to run
setInternet2 (use = TRUE)
at the R prompt.
