You can run the fancy version, but it takes up a lot of memory. So, I
would replace your .vnc/xstartup with the file I sent to you (without
downloading it to the Windows/Mac.

FYI Kosuke,
I have everything set up okay (I can run R in Xemacs). The only wierd
thing, as I mentioned in class, is that I am running a fancy version of
linux I think. It's KDE3 or something. But it's not a problem.
Thanks.
Andrew

Hi,
The first section for Gov2001 will be held in Rm22, CBRSS (34 Kirkland),
tomorrow from 7pm to 8pm. If you have a laptop with wireless network card
(have to be registered to the FAS network), you might want to bring it to
the section tomorrow so that you can set it up in the section.
For those who do not have an FAS account, please fill out the
application form as soon as possible. You need my signature and submit it
to the science center help desk.
See you tomorrow!
Kosuke
One quick Gov. 2001 question: would it be acceptable to submit a research paper
jointly to Gov. 2001 and another class, or should we plan to submit the paper
exclusively to Gov. 2001? Since others may wonder the same thing, I thought I
would email the list.
Many thanks.
Best,
Dan

If you have an e-mail address which ends with @fas.harvard.edu, this means
you have an FAS account. The fact that you received the welcome message
from me, however, does NOT mean you have an FAS account!
Kosuke
Welcome to Gov 2001! This is the course mailing list, and there is an
archive where you can read previous messages and change your subscription
options: http://www.fas.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/gov2001-l
My office hours are Tuesdays from 4 to 6pm in Rm 31, CBRSS (34 Kirkland,
see http://www.cbrss.harvard.edu/ for directions about how to get there)
or by appointment.
Our first section is this Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm in Rm22, CBRSS. I will
explain the computing environment we use for this course, and give you the
first assignment. The assignment is due next Wednesday in section.
For those of you who don't have an FAS account, you need to fill out the
application form AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that you can start working. Go to
http://www.courses.fas.harvard.edu/~gov2001/handouts/SetUp.html and submit
the form to the FAS help desk at the Scince Center. You need Gary's
signiture, so stop by his office.
I look forward to working with you this semester!
Kosuke
