Hi everyone,
I've got a (hopefully) quick question about installing Amelia II. The setup is
kind of long, however ...
I tried to follow the directions on your website for installation
of Amelia II, but it didn't work. Clicking the amelia.bat file led
to a DOS window flashing open and then closing. I checked for the
usual problems that would lead to this with the old version of
Amelia --- I didn't use any strange folder names or anything, I just
accepted the defaults. I've got the latest version of R (2.4.0) and Amelia I is
not installed on this computer.
In looking at the results of my failed attempt at installation, I
noticed that .installinfo reads:
Ver
C:/DOCUME~1/Garrett/LOCALS~1/Temp/ijtmp_E75D9488-A6DE-4D98-A9F8-1065E55153D1/Amelia_1.1-8.zip

Ver {C:/Program Files/AmeliaView/amelia.ini} 1.0.0.0
Ver {C:/Program Files/AmeliaView/aminstall.r} 1.0.0.0
Ver {C:/Program Files/AmeliaView/aminstall.bat} 1.0.0.0
Ver {C:/Program Files/AmeliaView/amelia.ico} 1.0.0.0
Ver {C:/Program Files/AmeliaView/amelia.bat} 1.0.0.0
while aminstall.r.Rout reads:
install.packages("C:/DOCUME~1/Garrett/LOCALS~1/Temp/ijtmp_E75D9488-A6DE-4D98-A9F8-1065E55153D1/Amelia_1.1-9.zip",repos=NULL)
Error in zip.unpack(pkg, tmpDir) :

not found
Execution halted
There seems to be a mismatch between versions 1.1-8 and 1.1-9 in
this output --- could this explain why my installation failed?
I then tried to install Amelia II using R. Here's how that went:
install.packages("Amelia",repos="http://gking.harvard.edu")
Warning: unable to access index for repository
http://gking.harvard.edu/bin/windows/contrib/2.4
Warning in download.packages(pkgs, destdir = tmpd, available = available, :
no package 'Amelia' at the repositories
I think since R 2.4 came out a few days ago this failed (the latest
directory you have is 2.3). So I finally went to your website and
downloaded Amelia_1.1-9.zip directly to my computer and installed using R that
way. That seemed to work, at least in getting the Amelia GUI to pop
up, but now I can't seem to read in any data. When I try I get this
in the R Console:
library(Amelia)
AmeliaView()
Loading required package: tcltk
Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done
Loading required package: foreign
Error in load.data(, ) : unused argument(s) ()
<Tcl>
I've tried different formats of data (Stata and tab delimited) and I
get the same error.
Any guidance you have on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Garrett
