Hi,
I also need a partner. I am a cardiologist and I was an epidemic intelligent service officer in Korea.
My research area of interest is cardiovascular/obesity epidemiology.
I am doing quantitative methods concetration in MPH.
Let me know if you are interested. As far as I know, up to 3people can work together
Thank you!

A quick note for those of you brushing up on R and starting to tinker with
Zelig:
The most recent version of Zelig is available on Gary's website. The
version on CRAN with the link in the users manual is out of date. Install
the package directly from Gary's website using:
install.packages("Zelig", repos = "http://gking.harvard.edu")
Happy tinkering.
Hi list,
I am trying to install XEmacs. I am following the following instructions:
http://isites.harvard.edu/fs/docs/icb.topic239013.files/Windows/Xemacs_For_…
I am now on step 7, where I am actually installing XEmacs. At some point, the
wizard asks me to select the connection method. That's where I get stuck. The 3
choices are: (a) use IE5 settings, (b) direct connection, and (c) use HTTP/FTP
proxy. I've tried them all...
Does anyone have any ideas?
thank you very much,
stella
Tomorrow's sections will be most useful if you can follow along on a
computer. If you have a laptop, it would be a good idea to bring it along.
In preparation, download the current version of R (2.6.1). A good way to
learn R quickly is to consult some of the resources listed on the course
syllabus.
For those of you new to the email list, section tomorrow will be an
introduction to R so there is no need to attend if you have experience with
it (i.e. if you took gov 2000).
See some of you tomorrow,
Jens and Jenn
Hi all,
We have posted the first, or rather the 0th problem set, on the course
website. This problem set will not be graded and is not for credit. You
should use it to gauge your proficiency in R and take this opportunity to
fill in gaps in your R abilities before the graded problem sets start (next
week).
We will post solutions to this problem set on the website next Thursday.
There is no need to formally write up solutions to this problem set, but
develop the habit now of heavily commenting your R code. Submit a text file
of your R code to the homework dropbox on the website by 5pm next Thursday
(the 14th).
A full description of the policy for graded homework in gov 2001 is posted
under the Problem Sets link. Read the full document, but the Cliff's Notes
version is:
Collaboration is encouraged, but writeups must be completed individually.
Problem sets will be assigned in section and posted to the website on
Thursday evenings. Problem sets are due the following Thursdays by 5pm.
Write up solutions to your problem set, preferably in a program like Latex,
and bring a hard copy to section.
Comment your R code in a text file and submit an electronic copy of the file
to the course website 'homework dropbox', also by the following Thursdays by
5pm.
Under NO circumstances will we accept late homework.
Happy problemsetting,
Jenn
Hello,
I know that our problem sets will always be due Thursday at 5. Are
readings for the class to be done before section or before lecture on
Monday?
Thanks,
Laurence
Dear Jenn,
could you please use my other account orgeldi at yahoo.de [mailto:orgeldi at yahoo.de] for mails.
Kindest regards
Joerg

Problem solved after installing 2.6.1. It must be some glitch from older
versions of R.
Thanks!
